Grain Merchandiser | CoMark Equity Alliance, LLC (CEA)

CoMark Equity Alliance, LLC (CEA) is hiring for a Grain Merchandiser position based out of either Enid, OK or Cheney, KS.  This position is responsible for commodity sales, logistics, profitability, and risk management as well as for the execution and performance of the grain division’s strategic plans, performance goals, and expected financial results established by the Board of Directors and senior management.  Applications will be accepted until February 1, 2022.

Some of the Essential Functions include:

  • Works with general managers and branch managers of origins to meet shipment goals and determine grain quality in those origins;
  • Procures and markets grain to achieve optimum financial results;
  • Promotes and implements grain marketing programs to improve client awareness, participation, and profitability and to increase bushel procurement, product and service sales, and business unit profitability;
  • Works to ensure CEA remains a leader in grain services for our trade area;
  • Creates and implements liquidation plans for member owner grain elevators for upcoming harvest space needs;
  • Works with origins, destinations, and trucks on load/unload schedules;
  • Assists logistics team in acquiring advantageous freight lanes and available freight;
  • Assists in evaluating basis ownership positions to align proper risk with market and logistical opportunities;
  • Books freight and looks for backhaul freight;
  • Evaluates inventory and balances sales and ownership positions with market structure;
  • Tracks shipment progress to make sure goals are being accomplished;
  • Reviews settlements, freight bills and freight billing;
  • Works with end users to ensure that contracts are meeting minimum quality requirements;
  • Builds relationships with end users, truckers, and origin managers;
  • Understands basis, spreads, and merchandising concepts and implements risk management skills to ensure profitable transactions;
  • Promotes company, member and employee cohesiveness through effective communication, teamwork, and shared services;
  • Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees, and management;
  • Maintains and promotes safety awareness; follows safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements;
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Series 3 License 
  • Limited day-travel required
  • Valid driver's license
