ABOUT THE FARMERS COOPERATIVE GRAIN ASSOCIATION

Since it’s inception in 1953, the Farmers Cooperative Grain Association has been truly committed to serving the needs of its loyal patrons.  Today the Cooperative has grown to encompass three locations, providing services in grain, agronomy, feed, fuel, and propane.  Their headquarters is located in Conway Springs, which is in South Central Kansas.  Today annual sales are over $30 million dollars.  They have 19 full-time employees.  To learn more please visit their website at www.cscoop.net.

POSITION SUMMARY

As the General Manager/CEO of the Farmers Cooperative Grain Association you will be responsible for successfully managing the day-to-day operations, while simultaneously planning and executing a strategy for the future, alongside the Board of Directors.  The Farmers Cooperative Grain Association is successful, profitable, and values the Cooperative principles and spirit.  This can be seen and felt in the Coop through their employee culture, excellent service to the patrons, and commitment to the communities they serve.  A strong background and experience in grain merchandising and management would be preferred.  In addition, the General Manager/CEO must have hands-on experience in managerial accounting, excellent business sense, and the ability to keep the culture and character of the Coop intact.  This Cooperative is tight-knit and operationally efficient and the General Manager/CEO would be expected to adopt these core business practices.  They will also be expected to reside within 15 miles of Conway Springs, Kansas.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, 5 plus years of Cooperative management and/or departmental management, or ag-business experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A strong background in managerial accounting; the ability to be hands on in the management of the Cooperative’s financials.  Handle receivables, payables, patronage, and equity, etc. 
  • A strong background in grain trading and management preferred.
  • Be knowledgeable about all facets of the business including grain handling and marketing, agronomy, feed, fuel, and propane.
  • Keep your word and accomplish the goals and plans agreed upon at the Coop.
  • Strong overall leadership skills; be level-headed.
  • A solid critical thinker with a successful track record of sound business decisions. 
  • Analytical and methodical. 
  • Personable and approachable with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with AgTrax and AgWorks preferred. 
  • Ability to use and understand technology including a computer, smart phone, tablet and various software programs and apps.
  • Be willing to reside within 15 miles of Conway Springs, Kansas.
