ABOUT WHEELER EQUITY EXCHANGE

Wheeler Equity Exchange is located about thirty minutes north of Goodland in rural northwestern Kansas.  It’s a successful single location Cooperative that has proudly been serving its members since 1917.  The Cooperative is a grain only operation with a total storage capacity of 1.2 million bushels.

POSITION SUMMARY

The ideal General Manager candidate will be hands-on and capable of leading the company from a day-to-day operational perspective.  The Board of Directors is looking for a candidate that will “lead by example” and work alongside the employees to accomplish the day-to-day tasks of running the business and meeting customer needs.  Candidates must also have prior experience in grain handling and management.  Additional qualifications include a desire to be customer focused and be a great relationship builder.  Candidates must have a thorough understanding of managing the behind-the-scenes of a business, including the financial aspects.  Candidates with a grain merchandising background will be given preference.

Additional Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience with at least 3 years’ experience working as a Location Manager, Department Manager and/or General Manager preferred.
  • Experience in grain management and handling.
  • Experience with grain merchandising preferred. 
  • Be able and willing to regularly lift up to fifty pounds.
  • Must have demonstrated the highest levels of personal and business integrity and value fair and honest business practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team of employees.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
  • A strong commitment to the Cooperative business principles.
  • Reside within Cheyenne County Kansas.
