Job Overview:
The Accountant will be responsible for the financial performance of the cooperative pertaining to short-term and long-term goals, budgets, and forecasts. This position offers a competetive salary dependent on experience. The benefit package includes: Group Health/Dental, Paid Time Off, Coop Retirement, 401k, and Life Insurance.
Key Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Assesses and evaluates financial performance of the cooperative regarding long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts;
- Provides insight and recommendations for short-term and long-term growth of the cooperative;
- Evaluates departments and makes suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency;
- Communicates and interacts with the management team;
- Prepares monthly financial reports;
- Reviews and analyzes monthly financial results and provide recommendations;
- Maintains monthly operating budget and annual cooperative budget;
- Oversees preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements;
- Reviews all month-end closing activities including general ledger and balance sheet accounts;
- Serves as point of contact for external auditors; manager preparation for external audits;
- Maintains and promotes safety awareness; follow safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements;
- Complies with all state and federal laws, codes and regulations;
- Submits accurate reports in a timely manner;
- Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations; responding promptly to customer needs, resolving questions, complaints and concerns immediately and meeting commitments;
- Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management;
- All other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university.
- Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.
- Cooperative industry accounting experience preferred.
- AgTrax software highly preferred.
