CEO & President | Kansas Cooperative Council

The Kansas Cooperative Council is searching for a strong leader to serve as the Council’s CEO & President. Candidates must be a focused and self-directed leader that can effectively execute a strategic vision.  That vision includes creating and executing education programs, advocacy efforts and promotion of the cooperative industry. Their passion for cooperatives must be contagious as they work directly with the members of the Council to advance their interest. A strong background in agriculture, credit unions, or electrical co-ops is preferred. Additionally, qualified candidates must be proven decision makers with excellent management abilities including an understanding of the financial accountabilities of an association. They will work closely with the Arthur Capper Cooperative Center. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

Additional Position Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field, 5 plus years of cooperative management or association experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A strong background in agriculture, credit unions or electrical co-ops preferred.
  • Experience managing and leading employees.
  • An understanding of the mission of the KCC and the key functions of the Council.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • A passion to serve the Cooperatives of the state of Kansas.
  • Unwavering commitment to transparency and ethical conduct.
  • Strong understanding of the cooperative business model and its principles.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with boards of directors, executive leadership teams, and support staff.
  • Must be able to travel for meetings at the local, regional, and national levels, and to be a partner and mentor to others within the electric industry and co-op associations.
  • Possess a valid drivers’ license.
  • Strong everyday technical capabilities including the use of a computer, tablet, smart phone and related software.
  • Reside in the state of Kansas. Schedule flexibility and telecommuting is permitted so long as they key objectives, including the execution of the strategic vision of the Council, are accomplished. This position will travel regularly with day trips and 2-3 overnight trips per month.
