Agronomy Sales Representative | Pawnee County Cooperative Association

The Pawnee County Cooperative Association is searching for an Agronomy Sales Representative in Larned, KS. This position is responsible for the sale of fertilizer, chemicals, and seed offered by the Cooperative.

Summary of Position Duties

  • Responsible for all sales of fertilizer, seed, chemicals, supplies and technology;
  • Responsible for consulting with producer about their farming plans for fertilizer, seed and chemical;
  • Responsible for assisting on test plots, demonstration plots and agronomy projects put forth by the Agronomy Manager;
  • Responsible to perform duties in a for-profit manner including inventory control to maximize supplier rebate and/or program dollar;
  • Maintains a knowledge and understanding of soil fertility, fertilizer recommendations, seed traits and agricultural chemistry;
  • Responsible for preparing the spray sheet and loading orders to be billed and to be filed;
  • Maintains and orders fertilizer and is responsible for completing work orders on all chemical and fertilizer sales;
  • Responsible for sales, pricing, and ordering of seed, seed inventory, seed returns, and warehousing of seed;
  • Develops partnerships with seed companies that are advantageous to the Cooperative and its customers;
  • Responsible for completing work orders on all seed sales, and for the accuracy of seed billing;
  • Responsible for all facets of seed treatment company-wide;
  • Coordinates seed delivery and pickup;
  • Maintains a detailed daily sales call log;
  • Contacts or visits existing customers to sell product, answer product questions, and provide service;
  • Assists with related special projects as required;
  • Provides excellent customer service by managing difficult or emotional situations; responds promptly to customer needs, resolves questions, complaints and concerns immediately and meets commitments;
  • Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management;
  • Maintains and promotes safety awareness; follows OSHA and company safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements;
  • Presents a clean and professional appearance;
  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance;
  • Employee is required to perform all other duties as assigned and/or travel to other locations or departments to perform duties assigned by supervisors and/or management.

Position Requirements & Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Valid Driver’s License, with a safe driving record.
  • Commercial Driver’s License - Class B required (Class A preferred or willingness to obtain) with Tanker, Airbrakes and Hazmat endorsements, with a safe driving record.
  • 1A Custom Applicator License, or willing to obtain. 
  • Kansas Pesticide License with 7B fumigation rider preferred.
  • Certified Crop Advisor preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills and have knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
  • Excellent customer service and sales skills.
  • Excellent organization and coordination skills in order to ensure customer’s needs are met.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, type, hear, twist, bend and be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs (and occassionally lift up to 100 lbs)
