Controller | Farmers Coop Elevator Company
Farmers Coopertative Elevator Company is hiring for a Controller based out of their Halstead, KS location. This position will manage the accounting department functions to inlcude accounts payable and payroll, and making sure all transactions are entered and accurate to ensure correct financials. Must comply with all laws regarding financial statements and member accounts.
Job Duties:
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Directly supervises assigned employee(s) to include training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
- Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable transactions
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
- Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
- Issue timely and complete financial statements
- Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
- Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear proper PPE when required

- Work overtime as required
- Assist with answering phones, buying grain and operating scales as needed
- Perform any other task requested by your supervisor
Required Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Products.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or finance, and at least 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes or other job-related education requirements or opportunities.
