ABOUT THE DECATUR COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION

Decatur Cooperative Association (DCA) is an agricultural Cooperative located in northwest Kansas, with its headquarters in Oberlin, Kansas. DCA operates approximately seven locations across northwest Kansas and southwest Nebraska and provides grain, feed, fuel, and propane services to its patron‑owners and surrounding agricultural communities. DCA is deeply rooted in its rural communities and committed to supporting local agriculture through strong relationships, dependable service, and Cooperative principles. POSITION EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Decatur Cooperative Association (DCA), a member-owned agricultural Cooperative serving northwest Kansas, is seeking a General Manager / Chief Executive Officer to provide leadership, strategic direction, and hands-on operational oversight.

The GM/CEO reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the Cooperative’s overall performance, including people leadership, financial management, operations, patron relations, safety, and strategic planning. The successful candidate will lead with integrity, maintain strong community relationships, and embrace the realities of a rural Cooperative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop employees while sustaining DCA’s culture and values.
  • Ensure excellent service to patrons and member-owners.
  • Oversee financial management, credit, risk, and long-term financial health.
  • Provide hands-on leadership across grain, feed, fuel, and propane operations.
  • Collaborate with the Board on strategy, capital planning, and governance.
  • Represent DCA in industry partnerships, including CoMark Equity Alliance (CEA).
  • Promote safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (agriculture, business, or related field), or equivalent experience, or combination.
  • Minimum 5 years Cooperative, agribusiness, or management experience.
  • Strong leadership, financial, and operational skills.
  • Working knowledge of grain handling/marketing, feed, fuel, and propane.
  • Effective communicator, approachable, and hands-on leader.
  • Willingness to reside near Oberlin, Kansas.
  • This is a highly visible, hands-on role with long and irregular hours during peak seasons. Work occurs in agricultural and industrial settings, including grain facilities and outdoor environments.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
