Grain Originator | Scott Cooperative

Scott Cooperative is currently accepting applications for a Grain Originator in Scott City, KS. A successful candidate should display excellent customer service skills and work well with others while having a willingness to continuously learn.  Scott Cooperative offers competitive wages and a benefits package.


Duties
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with grain producers in Cooperative's territory
• Originate grain through direct producer contact — including farm visits, phone calls, and producer meetings
• Educate producers on available marketing tools, contracts, and risk management strategies
• Negotiate and execute grain purchase contracts with producers
• Monitor local, regional, and global market factors that influence grain prices and costs of production
• Maintain accurate and timely records of all grain commitments and contracts
• Participate in cooperative events and marketing programs; represent the co-op at community and industry functions
• Record and pay out farm grain in a timely fashion
• Resolve customer complaints involving grain department settlements
• Oversee contract agreements and delivery completion
• Assist the grain merchandiser and accountant in daily activities in their absence
• Assist in hedging in relation to grain marketing
• Exhibit sufficient computer technology skills and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. College degree preferred in related field and 2 years of grain industry experience essential. Knowledge of grain marketing practices, terminology and futures markets is favorable. Strong relationship-building and communications skills (both verbal and written) are required. Must have a valid driver's license. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
