3 Things to Consider When Searching for an Agriculture Insurance Agent

In today’s world, you have options when choosing an agent to insure your insurance needs. When choosing an agent, there are certain things you should be aware of when making your choice. The following things should be kept in mind:

1. Direct vs Independent Insurance Agent. A direct agent can only place your insurance with one insurance company whereas an independent insurance agent can offer you many options from multiple insurance companies. It is nice to have choices to make sure the insurance company is the right fit for your insurance needs.

2. Knowledgeable in Agriculture. It is crucial to find an insurance agent who knows what you do and can assess your risk and coverage needs, especially in agriculture.  Make sure they have experience and technical knowledge. An indication that they have technical knowledge are the letters listed after their name. These letters stand for professional insurance designations that reflect a higher level of knowledge and competence.

3. Quality of Service. After an agent has earned your business, your expectations shouldn’t end there. Customer service will be the thing that stands out in a great insurance agent. They should be accessible when you need them and they should meet with you periodically throughout the year to review any changes that may affect your policy.

Remember, the goal is to find an agent you can trust, give you options that fit your needs, and are there when you need them.
